Culture Club – Wildlife Photography: A Look at Dorset Naturally
Wednesday 2nd October 2024, 18:30-21:00
To celebrate our Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition, this month we invite you to enjoy an evening of Dorset nature photography. We’ll be hosting an illustrated talk with Ringwood-based professional nature and landscape photographer Mike Read, in which he will take us through “A Look at Dorset Naturally”. Attendees will also be able to enjoy an exclusive out-of-hours visit to the exhibition itself, to take a closer look at over 100 powerful photographs which capture fascinating animal behaviour, spectacular species, and the breathtaking beauty of our planet.
In his illustrated talk, Mike Read will explore the many rich and beautiful habitats of Dorset’s rolling countryside – from the great migration point of Portland Bill, to Dorset’s famous chalk downland and heathland – and will introduce us to its sometimes rare flora and fauna. The talk will be illustrated by Mike’s acclaimed photography, and will be followed by a Q&A.
Either side of Mike’s talk, you’ll have have the chance to visit the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition. Our trained guides will be there to help shape and inform your exploration of the images on display. The Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition is the most prestigious photography event of its kind, providing a global platform that showcases some of the best photography talent from around the world – so come along and enjoy it on your doorstep here in Dorchester!
